Relief Sale
The 2024 Nebraska MCC Relief Sale will be held April 5 and 6 at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds in Aurora. Each year in the U.S. and Canada, Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) relief sales are organized by hundreds of volunteers as an extension of their faith and their desire to share love in the name of Christ around the world through supporting MCC’s work of relief, development and peace.
Relief sales and events celebrate community cooperation and generosity as they provide opportunities for fellowship, food and fun, raising millions of dollars annually to support the work of MCC!
Sales include auctions of quilts, furniture and other items and provide activities for children. Listen to local music or dig into delicious Mennonite specialties like pork in Nebraska, farmer sausage in Manitoba, verenika in Kansas or strawberry pie in Pennsylvania. Some sales have fundraising runs, bicycle rides or other sporting events.
Many relief sales also participate in My Coins Count, a wonderful way to help children understand that they can make a difference in the world.
The Nebraska Relief Sale is a 2 day event, held at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds in Aurora in early April. Nebraska (and Colorado) Mennonites have been gathering at the Nebraska Relief Sale for over 40 years creating a family reunion atmosphere of food and good natured bidding contests. In those years, nearly $6M has been raised to support the work of MCC in meting basic human needs and working for peace and justice around the world.
FMC hosts a Windsor Loin dinner each year at the Relief Sale. Members cook and serve the meal which is a sought after event for many attendees!
